It was highlighted that the challenges faced by the IDPs in Azerbaijan are addressed at high-level. Nevertheless, the only desire for all IDPs is to return to their ancestral lands.
Speaking on behalf of the civil society in Azerbaijan, Umud Mirzayev emphasized that the climate of mistrust has been created in Azerbaijan among the media as well as the ordinary people due to the double standards of the international organization engaged in the conflict resolution. He also noted that the international powers do not differentiate the aggressor from the victim of occupation which gives rise to great injustice. This policy provokes Azerbaijan to liberate its occupied territories by military means as of the last option despite the fact that Azerbaijan has always favored peace and reconciliation and is still committed to its peace- keeping position.
Umud Mirzayev also led the focus to the hindrances for the development of democracy in Azerbaijan as well as in the whole region caused by the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “If the Karabakh conflict were solved, the problems that now are subject to discussions would not exist as they are generated from the conflict that remains unsolved”.
In the end, the chairman of the organization said that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan must be solved in accordance with the international law principles provided that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is ensured. We expect the leading powers to take resolute steps in this regard.
Head of the Indonesian delegation Nur Kholis recognized the fact that the human rights of the people from Nagorno Karabakh and in seven surrounding regions are violated, and inability to return to back their homes is injustice. The conflict must be solved within the peace and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as of high importance.
