As Mr. Malik Ayyub Sumbal, the Editor-in Chief of the portal stated at the opening ceremony held with the participation of government officials, members of the parliament, head of the missions of foreign countries in Azerbaijan and representatives from international organizations and mass media, one of the major goals of the project is to promote peace with the help of journalism. He added that “IEPF was the conceptual inspiration for “Eurasia-Diary” which is a step taken for presentation of expert analyses for the peace.” There are experts’ articles on regional conflict resolution in the portal. He also mentioned that the analytic information portal is going to be published in five languages, which include English, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, and Azerbaijani. The portal will have more than twenty offices operating in Asia, Africa, Europe, Middle East, North and South America. “Starting from today, our portal will allocate the information about the conflicts to the public in a rather soft, non-irritating way.”- added Mr. Malik Ayyub Sumbal.

In his speech, the member of the Socio-Political Department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Bahruz Hasanov emphasized the current superiority of electronic media in Azerbaijan. Information is usually spread via internet in developed countries, which is sign for a globalized world. The main point here is to transfer the reliable information objectively. “Eurasia-Diary” is significant for the integration of Azerbaijan to the global information networking.

According to Aflatun Amashov, the Chairman of Azerbaijani Press Council and Member of the Parliament, activities of international information agencies play significant roles in country’s rising prestige. The information provided by these agencies forms Azerbaijan’s image abroad. In this regard, the “Eurasia-Diary” information portal will serve to strengthen the positive image of Azerbaijan in the world.

In his speech, the Moroccan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mr. Hassan Hami mentioned that the allocation of information objectively in Eurasian space is crucial. Objective and balanced information is vital in the presentation of modern global processes. There is no doubt that Azerbaijan’s practice of balanced position in the modern international political prosesses will find its reflection in activities of “Eurasia-Diary” analitic information portal as well and thus, the portal will prioritize these principles for future.

Then, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan , Mr. Khalid Usman Qaiser emphasized the importance of the presence of professional staff in “Eurasia-Diary” analitic information portal. “Media is not only a reality, it is a power” - he mentioned. “In today’s world, it is very crucial to share reliable information.

To my mind, “Eurasia-Diary” will enrich us with information and researches by bringing clarity to variety of case.”

The UNICEF Representative to Azerbaijan Mr. Andro Shilakadze skope about the importance of portal in the opening ceremony. He expressed his appreciation of IEPF’s activities in media, social-humanitarian and peaceful activities and protection of children’s rights. He mentioned the potensial of IEPF and “Eurasian-Diary” in terms of prospects for future cooperation.

Following his success wishes for the future activities of the portal, the head of Public Affairs Department of the US mission to Azerbaijan Mr. Stephen Guice stressed the importance of responsibility and the principles of professionalism. He shared his high expectations for the success of the project under the leadership of Umud Mirzayev. He expressed his positive attitude for future perspective of cooperation on development of independent media as well.

Mr. Umud Mirzayev, Vice-Chairman of Azerbaijani Press Council, Chairman of IEPF and founder of the portal emphasized that this site will operate for shaping opinions about conflict resolution at global level, focusing especially on the peaceful resolution of regional conflicts. We started our journey in 1992. The collapse of the Soviet Union was accompanied by bloody conflict in different parts of the union, one of whihc started in Karabakh. In the meantime, by assisting journalists from different regions we were trying to reach the conflict zone and to break the ongoing information blockade.

We decided to take the heavy responsibility of accurately presenting to the public the ongoing processes in our world. I am sure that “Eurasia-Diary” will develop as a reflector of events, conflicts happening in Eurasia and Post-Soviet region, of processes of concern around the globe and problems on the world agenda. Portal will develop into a school for promotion of international journalism in Azerbaijan. As a for human rights and humane values with “Eurasia-Diary” we will light out fire al over the world.

At ceremony, General Director of International Press Insititue Mrs. Barbara Trionfi and International Peace Bureau’s Secretary General Mr. Colin Archer expressed their congratulations to “Eurasia-Diary” analytic information portal.

In addition, it is worth to mention that the portal will provide its readers with leading expert reviews and comments about important events on regional and international agendas. It will operate in azerbaijani, turkish, english, russian and arabic languages.
