International conference launched on 9 November,2016 was orginized by Paris HEC academic center that established by Yunus Social Business Center in the name of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.This conference has of great importance for Social Business Center stimulation, exchange of experience and research on the role of Social Business for ordinary people in different countries. Our countries representatives, who are the co-founders of Yunus Social Business Center in Azerbaijan are the founder of the International Eurasia Press Fund Mr. Umud Mirzayev and rector of the Azerbaijan State Economic University Mr. Adalat Muradov attended this conference as well.
IEPF Chairman Mr. Umud Mirzayev said that during the conference, some well-known universities, non-governmental organizations, philanthropic organizations, and heads of business organizations come together in order to discuss some important issues regarding social entrepreneurship, social economy, corporate social responsibility, social effective investment, social financing, research and study on the methodology of social business, unit concept of social business due to colorful social attitudes, study of social business concept in developed countries, fight against global poverty and inequality in the world through using of new technologies ,prevention of concentration of wealth in the hands of several people, sustainable development, climate change and building the environment on the base of sustainable principles and in accordance with the UN Sustainable Goals.
Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Prof. Muhammad Yunus said in his opening speech that the concept of social business is more actual in todays world due to increasing number of refugees and internally displaced persons, poverty steadily, ongoing wars and disasters. He stressed the importance of joint activities of civil society, academic institutions and business entities, for strengthening and developing this concept.
Numerous Social Business centres, such as California (the USA), LA Trobe ( Australia), Renmin (China), Kyusho (Japan ), UNEC (Azerbaijan ), Technology Petronash (Malaysia), Beyker (Kasertsard university, Thailand), which are located in educational institutions presented their activities at the second half of conference. Moreover, the presentation regarding social and economic development in Azerbaijan was demonstrated by the rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics during the conference. Mr. Adalat Muradov was talking about successful work of welfare system and civil society in Azerbaijan that are linked to essential social-economic reforms implemented by the government, relations between civil society associations and academic institutions as well as entrepreneurship objects, scientific and theoretical aspects of Socioeconomic programs. During the presentation, Mr. Adalat Muradov noted that the President of Azerbaijan expressed serious attitude to some priorities about scientific-theoretical researches, academic researches and other vital activities in order to reinforce cooperative social engagement, social business, social preservation and reduce poverty in country. After conference, the Chief of the International Eurasia Press Fund Mr.Umud Mirzayev and the rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Mr. Adalat Muradov met with Muhammed Yunus, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2006. During the meeting, Mr. Umud Mirzayev mentioned that Muhammed Yunus was invited to Azerbaijan by the IEPF in July and this event was a notable event not only in Azerbaijan but also in the world. He said that the government take into consideration all his suggestions on microfinance and social business field and we do a lot of work to carry out the ideas we got from the discussion that was held in Baku.
Professor Muhammad Yunus expressed his satisfaction with the current development of Azerbaijan and the work done in the Socioeconomic sphere.
During the meeting, they agreed that next Social Business Academy will held in UNEC and there will be inclusions of social business philosophy to ERASMUS program, the suggestion of publication of Muhammad Yunus scientific writings and interviews in Azerbaijan as well.It worth nothing that conference is important in terms of the stimulation of Social Business Center’s activity that operates in various countries, exchange of experience and research of social business regarding ordinary people lives.
Noted that Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus visited Baku from 18 till 21 June. During the visit organized by the initiative of International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF), ADA along with University of Economics influential public figure Muhammad Yunus, known as the father of microcredit and social business has held a number of important meetings. First of all, he was received by the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev then held high-level meetings in Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, Ministry of Economy and Baku International Sea Trade Company. He gave professional proposals about economic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan. Moreover the presentation ceremony of his book “The Banker to the Poor” that was translated into Azerbaijani was held in IEPF headquarters. Muhammad Yunus spoke in front of wide audiences in Economic and ADA universities. Furthermore, for the first time in the region, there was an opening ceremony of Yunus Social Business Center (YSBC) that was based on a trilateral memorandum between Azerbaijan State Economic University (ASEU), IEPF and Yunus Center. The center is currently operating at ASEU.
