During the visit of Mr. Ambassador to the IEPF Office, the parties discussed a number of issues such as prospects of cooperation between the Embassy of Switzerland in Azerbaijan and IEPF, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other very important issues.

Mr. Umud Mirzayev provided brief information about IEPF and its key work areas. Officially registered in 1992 as an independent non-governmental organization, IEPF got a Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2014.

IEPF Chairman said that organization regularly collaborates with organizations such as UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO, UNHCR, EC, the US State Department, World Bank, the International Press Institute, International Federation of Journalists, International Peace Bureau, the Azerbaijan National Agency for MineAction (ANAMA) as well as with several embassies and with international and local organizations.

Moreover, Mr.Umud Mirzayev informed Swiss Ambassador about numerous ongoing and already implemented projects.Mr. Ambassador highlighted development of good relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland. He said that economic, political and trade relations between two countries are well developed and Switzerland is interested in expanding ties with Azerbaijan in all spheres. Notes with appreciation the implementation of several very important projects, Mr. Philipp Stalder said that Embassy of Switzerland in Azerbaijan intends wishes to cooperate with IEPF in some future projects.

Referring to Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, IEPF Chairman said that Azerbaijani people is disappointed with passive position of the international community on the issue with the conflict resolution. Mr. Umud Mirzayev said that the world community should pay more attention on the solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Armenians forced more than million people to leave their homeland and this fact should not be neglected. He added that Azerbaijan expect to have unbiased attitude of Europe towards this issue.

Swiss Ambassador said that Switzerland is sharing the concern of Azerbaijani people and understand that this conflict should be resolved peacefully as soon as possible.In the end, the parties agreed to continue close cooperation in all possible fields.
