During the visit of Mr. Ambassador to the IEPF Office, the parties discussed a number of issues such as prospects of cooperation between the Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan and IEPF, implementation of joint projects and other very important issues.

Mr. Umud Mirzayev provided brief information about IEPF and its key work areas. Officially registered in 1992 as an independent non-governmental organization, IEPF got a Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2014.

IEPF Chairman said that organization regularly collaborates with organizations such as UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO, UNHCR, EC, the US State Department, World Bank, the International Press Institute, International Federation of Journalists, International Peace Bureau, the Azerbaijan National Agency for MineAction (ANAMA) as well as with several embassies and with international and local organizations.

Moreover, Mr.Umud Mirzayev informed Japanese Ambassador about numerous ongoing and already implemented projects in the war-wretched Terter region. He noted that in addition to the activities of the IEPF in other spheres, IEPF carries out some researches in the war-wretched regions and implements projects in order to solve problems of low-waged families, victims of the war and refugees and IDPs. Mr.Umud Mirzayev stated that Embassy of Japan always supports the projects of IEPF and expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for their support.

Mr. Ambassador highlighted development of good relations between Azerbaijan and Japan.He said that economic, political and trade relations between two countries are well developed and Japan is interested in expanding ties with Azerbaijan in all spheres. Notes with appreciation the implementation of several very important projects, Mr. Tsuguo Takahashi said that Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan intends wishes to cooperate with IEPF in some future projects. In the end, the parties agreed to continue close cooperation in all possible fields.
