During this visit a number of issues such as prospects of cooperation between the Embassy of Morocco in Azerbaijan and IEPF, implementation of joint projects, organization of joint conferences and other very important initiatives have been discussed.

Azerbaijan and Morocco enjoy very stable and successfully developing bilateral relations in economic, political, cultural and other fields. When Azerbaijan got its independence, Morocco was one of the first countries established diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan. Close friendship links between the peoples of both countries positively influence on the development of close cooperation between Morocco and Azerbaijan.

Umud Mirzayev provided brief information about IEPF and its key work areas: Media & Civil Society Development; Community Development; Refugees/IDPs Issues; and Peace-making & Conflict Resolution. Officially registered in 1992 as an independent non-governmental organization, IEPF got a General Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2014.

Addressing the role of media Mr. Ambassador noted that media plays a very important role in strengthening the relations between countries. Both parties agreed that provision of accessible, accurate and objective information on various issues is a direct responsibility of all media structures.

Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco became one of the most developed countries in Africa that enjoy economic and political stability. Morocco is also one of the main investors for many countries in Africa. While enjoying its own sustainable development, Morocco aims to help its fellow African nations. Moreover, Morocco is the only country in Africa that has own independent migration policy. In 2014 Morocco gave resident permission to 24,000 migrants coming from the rest African countries with the aim to move further to Europe. Those migrants got a chance to stay in Morocco and work legally. At the initiative of King Mohammed VI a new phase of the same policy was launched a few days ago and more Sub-Saharan immigrants will benefit from it next year as well.

In the end, Mr. Ambassador commended the Chairman for his visit and emphasized the importance of development of cooperation between the Embassy and IEPF that will obviously have a positive influence on Azerbaijan – Morocco bilateral relations.

Note that Ambassador Mohamed Adil Embarch has a very successful diplomatic career. Prior coming to Azerbaijan he served at the Embassies of Morocco in Washington, Beijing and Bangkok and Paris. On December 7, 2016 He presented his credentials to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
