International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) has made a great success in the history of the civil society of Azerbaijan.

Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace was presented during the Side Event related to rights of children suffered from conflicts in the headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva held by IEPF on March 10.

Addressing the event, which brought together a number of public figures, representatives of international civil society, and officials of the UN agencies and diplomats of various countries, Chairman of IEPF, Umud Mirzayev highlighted the important role of Platform to achieve sustainable peace in the South Caucasus and invited international organizations who attended the event to join this platform.

He said that the organization led by him also joined Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace and as well as he spoke about the foundation of this initiative and objectives put forward by the platform.

Umud Mirzayev said that the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not a conflict of Azerbaijani and Armenian people, this is the conflict made by a number of interested countries in the world to prevent peace in this region.

“Therefore representatives of both nations should come together and work to make a peace in the region. The aim of this initiative include involvement of civil society in both country to the peace process, not transmitting Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to the future generations and to find solutions for the peaceful coexistence between the two people.

Participation of two countries in the peace process is not enough; countries who want to make peace in the region should indeed support this initiative through practical way. In this process, as well as international organizations organizations and Diasporas of both countries should make efforts to thaw the civil societies of both countries.

Members of the platform stated support for the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighted importance of the implementation of relevant UN resolutions and resolution 1416 adopted by the Council of Europe”- he said.

Mr. Mirzayev stated that liberation of the occupied territories, return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their native lands are necessary terms in order to make a peace in the region.

Then, he gave information about attitudes of the international organizations to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace platform and its future targets. Noted that in order to present the platform worldwide and expand the number of those who support the peace process, to gain new ideas and impulses, presentations, meetings will be held in other major debate arena.

In the end Chairman of IEPF visited the center where delegations of the world's leading Christian churches and large companies work in the center of Geneva. He met with the president of Coopérative SEEDS Investments Company Carl-Gustav Bjertnes, who works in the direction of establishment of peace-building and sustainable financial resources.
