Representatives from the UNICEF office in Azerbaijan and International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) visited Goranboy, Tartar and Barda districts of Azerbaijan in the framework of the project titled the "Azerbaijan Youth Advocate Program".
 
The project was led by the UNICEF representative in Azerbaijan Edward Carwardine, UNICEF Youth adolescent development specialists Aida Ailarova and Natig Umarov, IEPF President Umud Mirzayev and ‘Azerbaijan Youth Advocate Program’ project coordinator Giyas Abbasov.
 
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the activities of the Youth and Adolescent Advisory Council created within the framework of the ‘Azerbaijan Youth Advocate Program’, meet with the representatives of the executive power in the districts and discuss future activities.
 
The meeting was also attended by the head of executive power of the Goranboy district Nizameddin Guliyev, the head of the executive power of the Tartar district Mustagim Mammadov and the head of the executive power of the Barda district Vidadi Isayev.
 
Representatives of the executive power of the districts, UNICEF and IEPF discussed the details of the project.
 
Important role of the youth in the development of civil society of Azerbaijan as well as the importance of large-scale work done by the government of Azerbaijan in this field were also highlighted during the meetings.
 
UNICEF representative and Youth adolescent development specialists got acquainted with the construction work of the new settlement for internally displaced persons.
 
During the meeting, the video prepared by the IEPF and UNICEF was demonstrated. 
 
It should be noted that the project ‘Azerbaijan Youth Advocate Program’ has been implemented in 21 regions of Azerbaijan since 2011.
 
In the coming months, trainings for the members of the Youth and Adolescent Advisory Council will be conducted on the topics of multimedia, Convention on the Rights of the Child and disaster risk reduction.
