Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to Azerbaijan, Yousef bin Hassan al-Saai visited the office of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF).
The IEPF President Umud Mirzayev welcomed the guest and told that the IEPF supports to establish friendly relationships between Azerbaijani mass media and different organizations, especially media companies functioning in Muslim countries. Emphasizing the activity and role of the “Al-Jazeera Media Network” of Qatar which is a leading media company in the muslim world is enough to understand the importance of joint cooperation. Today Al-Jazeera takes the first place with its TV channels operating in many languages, research centers, documentary films and social programs among the media companies in the Arab countries and Middle East.
Umud Mirzayev said that the IEPF collaborates with the Al-Jazeera Media Network since 2012. The IEPF which contributes to the protection of journalists working in the conflict zones supports the Al-Jazeera Media Network’s activity and its mission in terms of disseminating objective and impartial information and ensuring freedom of expression and speech. On the other hand, the organization strongly believes that it has important impacts on the protection of freedom of speech and freedom of expression.
Mr. Ambassador Yousef bin Hassan al-Saai praised bilateral ties between the representatives of the civil society and media of Azerbaijan and Qatar. The sides also discussed prospects of relations during the meeting. They also touched upon Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
