The Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) training within a project, implemented by the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) with the financial support of the European Union, UNICEF Azerbaijan and ANAMA, has been kicked off.
Speaking at the launch of the project, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund Umud Mirzayev greeted the participants and spoke about the horrors of the 44-day war and the pride of our victory. He informed about the contamination of our territories liberated from Armenian occupation with mines and explosives, as well as unexploded ordnance. Mirzayev noted that ANAMA carried out intensive demining operations, and at the same time it was important to educate the population about the mined areas. Informing the participants about the purpose, and the core of the project, the IEPF President spoke about the need to educate, train and to raise the awareness of the population affected by the war and the deadliest mines in this area.
The trainers of the project talked about unexploded ordnance, mines and their types. They noted that the aim of the project is to instill in the population the rules of self-protection in mined areas and to teach them to follow the rules during a major return. Among the participants there were Ragsana Mammadli, a representative of the Tartar District Executive Power, Musa Jalalov, an instructor, regional coordinators and community representatives. Participants took tests prepared by the trainer in order to check their level of knowledge on the topic.
It should be noted that the project is planned to be implemented in 10 districts. IEPF organises awareness-raising events in 6 of these regions (Tartar, Barda, Fizuli, Goygol, Goranboy and Dashkasan). The project will cover a total of 48 community residents, including 6 districts and 10,000 (ten thousand) people each. Awareness-raising activities in the region will play an important role in reducing the risk of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
The project is expected to last until October 2022.
