"When I was asked about my blood type, I realised that this was a reality. However, it was impossible for me to sit at home and watch the horrors from my comfortable room on a television screen, because part of our world was ruthlessly bombed."

İEPF reports that Heidi Kuhn, founder and CEO of Roots of Peace, has shared the words on her Facebook account.

Heidi Thomas Kuhn, who visited Azerbaijan at the invitation of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) and with the support of ANAMA, has also shared her impressions of her visit to Karabakh.

"I accepted an invitation from the President of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) Umud Mirzayev to visit the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, where he once lived with his family, and to walk through the mined fields. Now those places are the endless Black Garden that is full of mines.

As I prepared to walk through this black minefield, I wore mine protection and a helmet to protect my body. As both a mother and a grandmother, I could not think of a better step than to show the world the cruel and bitter reality of the war for peace."

During the visit, Heidi Kuhn together with ANAMA chairman Vugar Suleymanov and IEPF President Umud Mirzayev detonated 8 mines in Chayli village of Tartar region.

"Under the professional leadership of the Azerbaijan Agency for Mine Action - ANAMA, I pressed my right thumb on the button and detonated eight anti-tank mines.

The explosion was felt for miles, and the black smoke billowing into the air like a ring beat my heart - I thought that a few children's and soldiers' boots hidden under the ground and there were still people waiting for them ... "

"We must destroy more than 60 million landmines in 60 countries, plant the Roots of Peace, and replace those empty holes that are destroying humanity with greenery.

As a human being, it is time to take bold steps for peace," said Heidi Kuhn.
