On January 28, the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the International Eurasia Press Fund for 2025 was held. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Board, Chingiz Abdullayev, members Rashad Majid, Vagif Behmenli, Aflatun Amashov, President of the IEPF Umud Mirzayev, Vice President Oguz Mirzayev, and other staff members.
Umud Mirzayev first delivered a presentation, presenting the organization's final report for 2024 to the Board of Trustees. He highlighted that the activities planned at the beginning of 2024 were successfully implemented and emphasized the significant projects undertaken by the organization both in the region and on an international scale, as well as the successful partnerships established.
"The year 2024 has been a remarkable one for the IEPF, marked by significant achievements. Throughout this period, our organization has carried out important activities at both local and international levels in the fields of media and civil society development, mine action, sustainable development goals, and social initiatives. As the IEPF, we have continued our efforts to contribute to the protection of human rights, the support of peacebuilding initiatives, and the comprehensive development of communities."
The report highlights the IEPF’s observation mission during the 2024 extraordinary presidential elections, the organization of visits to Karabakh for numerous local and international journalists and diplomats, the successful operations and achievements of female demining teams, and the collaboration with Baku Media Center and other media organizations in covering their activities. It also details the IEPF’s participation in international conferences and events held in Azerbaijan, including COP29, the organization of a side event at the UN Geneva Office, and the visits of prominent figures such as Heidi Kuhn, Founder and CEO of Roots of Peace, Professor Muhammad Yunus, leader of the Government of Bangladesh, and Vuk Jin Chang, Head of the UN NGO Section, who were hosted by the IEPF. Additionally, the report includes statistics on the IEPF’s Community Mine Action Team, which has been operating for nearly 25 years, as well as other key activities. The presentation also featured photographs of the newly constructed Vocational Training Center for female deminers in the Tartar region, built by the IEPF.
Following the presentation, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chingiz Abdullayev, noted that the implemented activities and achieved results were clearly evident. He emphasized that the report was highly comprehensive and expressed great appreciation for the work carried out. Board members Aflatun Amashov, Rashad Majid, and Vagif Bahmanli also shared their views, stating that they found the IEPF’s activities commendable.
ollowing the presentation of the annual report, discussions were held on the IEPF’s strategic goals and action plan for 2025. During the discussions, key topics included the establishment of an international "think tank" analytical platform, potential initiatives related to the 150th anniversary of the national press, participation and representation opportunities at COP30, and other significant matters.
