On July 14, the first phase of the training program dedicated to the study of United Nations treaty and charter-based mechanisms officially concluded. The program was organized within the framework of the project “Supporting the Enhancement of Representation Opportunities of Azerbaijani NGOs at the United Nations,” implemented by the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) with the support of the State Agency for Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The final training sessions were conducted by human rights expert-trainer Sahib Mammadov and focused on two key topics:

“Procedures for Preparing and Submitting Alternative (Shadow) Reports to UN Bodies”
“Core Monitoring and Evaluation Skills in the Field of Human Rights within the UN System”
Held at the IEPF's head office, the training brought together 23 representatives of various non-governmental organizations, equipping them with practical knowledge and tools to engage more effectively with international human rights mechanisms.

The training program lasted two weeks and aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of Azerbaijani civil society organizations by familiarizing them with the structures and processes of UN treaty bodies and charter-based institutions.

As the project moves forward, the second phase will begin on July 17, focusing on capacity-building for obtaining consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Upon completion, certificates will be awarded to successful participants, and active NGOs will receive support in the application process for ECOSOC membership.
