On September 9, Umud Mirzayev, the president of the International Eurasia Press Fund, took part in the World Congress of the International Press Institute held at Columbia University in New York. The congress, which began on September 8, will conclude tomorrow with the closing ceremony to be held at the New York Times.
The ongoing event under the theme "Journalism on the Front of Democracy" is being held with the participation of representatives of leading media organizations, journalists, Nobel Prize winners, and well-known media workers from different countries of the world.
Umud Mirzayev, who is the chairman of the Azerbaijan National Committee at IBU, shared his views on the congress with "Ednews.net". "The IPI World Congress is a global meeting that is held every year and has met with great interest by world journalists. Here, important issues related to the media are discussed according to the agenda, and a future action plan is prepared accordingly. In 2020, in connection with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the institution, the congress was planned to be held in New York, but the jubilee event was postponed due to the pandemic. After a break of several years, we are together with our friends again. I consider myself very lucky and happy to have represented Azerbaijan in this family for 4 years." - said U. Mirzayev.
It should be noted that Umud Mirzayev was a member of the Board of Directors of the International Press Institute during 2012-2016.
IEPF president, whose visit to the USA continues, will also participate in the 77th UN General Assembly on September 13.
