On July 23, the final – 12th – training session was held at the office of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) to support the integration of local NGOs into the United Nations system.
The training sessions, launched on July 1 as part of the project “Supporting the Representation Opportunities of Azerbaijani NGOs at the UN,” implemented by IEPF with the support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, brought together over 30 participants representing 26 different NGOs.
The final session, titled “Accreditation and Participation in UN Events,” focused on enhancing local NGOs’ representation opportunities at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It was delivered by international trainer and expert Nick Nvolisa, who has extensive experience in cooperation with the UN and its agencies. During the training, several NGOs completed their registration through the ECOSOC online portal. Furthermore, in the continuation of the project, selected NGOs will be supported by IEPF, which holds the highest ECOSOC status – General Consultative Status – in applying for this recognition.
It should be noted that the initial training program of the project, dedicated to studying the UN’s treaty and charter-based mechanisms, consisted of six modules and was conducted by human rights trainer-expert Sahib Mammadov.
